GLP-1 is a peptide hormone of the glucagon family, produced by the L cells of the intestinal mucosa from the same prohormone as glucagon. The active forms are potent stimulators of glucose-dependent insulin secretion. GLP-1 (1-36) amide is an incompletely prosessed precursor form showing relatively little bioactivity.
Synthetic peptide coupled to diphtheria toxoid with glutaraldehyde
HYB 011-05 is specific for the N-terminal region (residues 1-6) of the GLP-1. No crossreactitvity with GLP-1 (7-36) amide or (7-37). GLP-1 is 100% conserved in all tested mammalian species.

HYB 011-05 reacts with the low activity enzyme GLP-1(1-36)amide, but not with either of the activated forms GLP-1(7-36)amide and GLP-1(7-37)amide.
